Love him or hate him (although let’s face it, no one hates him), it’s impossible to deny that Keanu Reeves is aging like a fine wine.
The Matrix star has become a celebrated icon over the course of his long and successful career on the big screen, and his laudable acting chops are well complemented by the fact that he’s a rather nice guy off of it.
Many are the tales that have been told about Reeves’ genuine compassion and kindness, so it’s hardly a surprise that he features high up in a lot of people’s estimations relating to their favorite celebrities. As such, you’d think that his extensive fanbase know pretty much all there is to know about him: after all, he’s been one of the most famous faces on the planet for decades.
And yet it turns out there’s one glaring piece of information that a fair amount of people were left shocked by: his real age.
Reeves has been in the UK this week and appeared on The One Show on Wednesday, October 23, to talk about the potential novelization of a comic book he wrote with American author Matt Kind, among other things. And though he covered plenty of fascinating topics, the interview took a turn for the surprising when he revealed a bit of personal information that by all accounts left viewers gobsmacked.
While in the process of discussing his various milestones, Reeves revealed: “Well I’ve turned 60 this year.”
One of the presenters immediately called this into question, responding: “Did you? You can not be 60.”
“Yes, I am 60 years old,” Keanu confirmed.
And it would seem the presenter of the show wasn’t the only one taken back by the revelation. No, no sooner had a clip made its way to Twitter than did internet denizens express their disbelief.
“Keanu Reeves is 60!! He looks about 20 years younger than me and I’m 10 years younger than him. Incredible!!” one wrote.
Another added: “Keanu Reeves looks incredible at 60 years old! Such a kind and humble human being.”
“Sorry Keanu Reeves is 60!!!!! @BBCTheOneShow he looks amazing for his age and he seems like the nicest guy,” commented a third.
“Genuinely one of the nicest people from Hollywood. But… he said he’s 60 !!!!!” another said in disbelief.
